Can the Chez Clément conservatory host a civil ceremony?

The conservatory is one of the most distinctive spaces in the house: bright, sheltered, an extension of the main dining room while keeping its own atmosphere. Marie and Gilles Verleyen, who have run the brasserie since 2021 under J and JJ Brasserie SA, celebrated their own marriage in this room. That personal history gives the space an emotional dimension you do not often find in a venue available to outside parties: the room where the current owners sealed their commitment is, year after year, offered to other couples for their own ceremonies.

On a practical level, a civil ceremony in the conservatory can take several forms. A classic format with an external celebrant whom you mandate; a more intimate format with speeches from family and friends; a mixed format that combines the ceremony with the dinner that follows. The exact capacity of the conservatory in ceremony configuration depends on the layout chosen (seated in rows, semi-circle, standing). The whole house (main dining room, conservatory, bar, terrace in season) can absorb up to 250 guests for a private event-cocktail configuration and 230 guests seated, figures that give a civil-ceremony brief considerable flexibility.

The specific conditions for a civil ceremony, time slot, exclusive use of the space during the ceremony itself, installation of an arch or decorative elements, sound system, video recording, articulation with the dinner that follows, are arranged case by case with the team. A visit of the spaces in advance is strongly recommended: it lets you visualise the conservatory, discuss guest flow through the building, and align the timing with the regular restaurant service on the same day.

The Walloon Brabant setting itself is an asset for a civil ceremony without a prior religious ceremony: the conservatory serves as a complete celebration space, without the need to plan a transfer to a church or place of worship. The brasserie is also close to the Solvay regional estate and the Lake of Genval for group photographs, and a few minutes by car from the Folon Foundation and the Castle of La Hulpe.
